X-Rays for Better Veterinary Insight

Pet X-rays (radiographs) are one of the valuable tools veterinarians use to examine the internal structures of cats and dogs. Images from X-rays can non-invasively show bones, joints, and soft tissues to detect fractures, tumors, arthritis, heart or lung issues, swallowed objects, bladder stones, and more. In addition to general diagnostics, we also use radiographs for OFA (Orthopedic Foundation for Animals) certification exams to evaluate for inherited joint conditions like hip dysplasia.

X-rays are quick, safe, and painless, and they provide immediate information that helps us guide your pet’s care. Whether we’re investigating a limp, checking on internal organs, or performing a screening, radiographs may be a part of keeping your pet healthy.

In-House Lab Testing for Pets

Our laboratory performs common diagnostic tests with same-day results.

These results are especially valuable when time is critical, such as in urgent health issues or when evaluating symptoms that need fast answers. A few of our in-house pet diagnostics include:

When a test isn’t available in-house, we partner with a trusted reference laboratory to access a broader range of diagnostic services. Samples are sent out promptly, and you’ll always receive a follow-up call or text from our team as soon as results are in. We’ll explain what the findings mean and help you understand what’s next for your pet.

Why Your Pet Should Get Routine Diagnostics

Routine diagnostic testing has a role in preventive care. Many health conditions, such as kidney disease, thyroid disorders, diabetes, or infections, don’t show visible signs in the early stages. Regular screenings usually catch when your pet has developed a health issue, which makes treatment easier and outcomes better.

We recommend annual diagnostic testing as part of your pet’s wellness visit. In some cases, more frequent testing may be necessary if your pet is on long-term medications, has a known medical issue, or belongs to a breed predisposed to certain conditions. Diagnostics also helps our staff monitor recovery from illness or surgery and track long-term health trends.
